Approaches
My approach is eclectic, humanistic and informed by evidenced based theory and practice from a variety of theoretical orientations.

Within the first few sessions, we will work together to determine an approach that best suites your goals. We will explore how your history has shaped the lens in which you experience the world. The approach will be determined from your lived experience and my experiences and training in psychology.
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems. Trauma, from an SE lens, is focused on how it shows up in the nervous system and how that dysregulation impacts life. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. - www.healingtrauma.org
Trauma Informed
A trauma-informed approach reflects adherence to six key principles: Safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support; collaboration and mutuality; empowerment, voice and choice; and cultural, historical, and gender issues. - www.mentalhealth.org
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT helps you acknowledge your relationship with your thoughts and feelings. You learn to understand your feelings instead of changing them. You’ll work on reframing your values and adjusting your behaviors to better match them. - https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/acceptance-and-commitment-therapy-act-therapy
Person Centred/Humanistic
Person Centred Therapy is a modality of therapy where the client takes the lead in therapy where they are seen as the expert in their lives. It is considered a non-direct approach where the client is supported in learning and self-discovery. -

CBT helps clients identify distressing thoughts and evaluate how realistic these thoughts are. As clients become aware of their thoughts and are able to evaluate them, they feel better. CBT therapists also work with clients on solving problems, learning new skills, and setting and achieving meaningful goals. - www.beckinstitute.org
